Filters

Wednesday, January 18, 2006 - 6:20 PM

Lord,

Give me the strength to wade through the muck of the Christian education arena.

Give me the wisdom to discern the goodness from the garbage.

Give me the heart to speak when words must be spoken and the humility to remain silent when silence is needed.

Show me how to apply your filter to my life. I pray that filter separates all that is liberal, conservative, republican, democrat, left, or right from that which is your truth. You conform to none of these titles, Lord. I pray that you will show me that truth and how you work in the midst and intermingle in and around all of those labels. Your written word is sovereign, and your hope eternal.

Your Browser

Thursday, January 5, 2006 - 11:41 PM

After leaving Internet Explorer, I never turned back. I’ve been using a different browser now for almost two years. So after spending hours on end tweaking the layout of this site, imagine my disgust when I realized I had forgotten to check Internet Explorer to see if things looked as good as in Firefox. Surprise surprise, broken.

If for some reason this page is broken to you, its because you are using Internet Explorer or another browser that does not support web standards.

Yes, Internet Explorer came with Windows, however, the program itself, the latest version included, is at its core, old. The next version that is slated to come out in the third or fourth quarter of this year will be standards compliant. Until then, there are other options.

It is actually not only smart to switch just because some pages look strange. At this moment, Internet Explorer is the most widely used internet browser. Therefore, it is the most targeted by exploits and viruses. So internet security is an issue as well.

Until Internet Explorer 7 is released, I would suggesting changing to another browser. There are a few different options out there. The two most well known are Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/) and Opera (http://www.opera.com). Not only are both of these browsers more secure and more standards compliant, but they also are packed with features that may have you not wanting to return to Internet Explorer even when the new version comes out.

Of course, in the real world, most of you wont care to switch. Regardless of how easy they are to install and operate. With that being the case, I am having to search around and try to find the proper code to get my site to flow correctly regardless of the browser being used.

So until then, if this site is broken, I’m sorry. It’s your browser.

A Saint or A Communist?

“When I give food to the poor, they calle me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist.”
